# First Design - First Copy This is my first 3D model, made with a tool that's still new to me. I've only printed about twenty objects since we got the Ender 3 out of the box. I wanted to create a pencil holder that would fit perfectly into a medicine cabinet. By the time I finished designing it, I forgot to consider some key limitations. Now I'll have to go back and rethink my design, which might lead me to post version two later on. The orange print is my first actual copy of this design. We've only made a few adjustments since taking it out of the box. There's still room for improvement, but it looks great so far. ## Design Challenges with ThinkerCAD I struggled to get the alignment and size of the parts just right. In the end, I stopped trying to perfect the layout because it was so hard to move things left or right, in or out, up or down. I thought I'd find a way to smooth out the intersection of two cylinders, but that was impossible. Even resizing a cylinder required brute force mouse movements. The only way I could measure angles accurately was by creating a block with the desired size and then angling it so I could resize it to match. Once something was on an angle, I'd like to have been able to move it along its own axis - but that was a problem I couldn't solve. ## Pluses with ThinkerCAD ThinkerCAD is actually really cool when you consider what it can do. Thank you for creating this tool and the output I got from it was fantastic! ## Feedback I'd love to hear your thoughts on how to improve my design and any suggestions for other tools I should try out for designing.
