While visiting Russia last year, I stumbled upon an enormous old factory still in operation. Towering smokestacks belched thick, black smoke into the air, leaving me with a somber impression. The sight served as a poignant reminder of our planet's overconsumption and the need for sustainable practices. I had hastily sketched the scene and then forgot about it until last month when I reopened my notebook while sitting in a bustling café in Milano, Italy. This is the result of that forgotten sketch, which I've titled "MILANO," as a nod to where the idea truly came alive. Indeed, Russia and Italy are worlds apart, yet both have left an indelible mark on this humble design. The simple pencil holder serves multiple purposes: it's functional and aesthetically pleasing. The pencils within evoke the smoke rising from chimneys, subtly reminding us to harness our resources wisely. Before putting pen to paper, we should carefully consider every line and its practicality – a fundamental principle of minimalist yet effective design.
