Pencil Clips
thingiverse
Here's the thing: when I was browsing for some decent pencil clips, none caught my eye, so I took matters into my own hands. Now let's get down to business: instructions. Obviously, I relied on a bit of extra support in there, as you do. Printing those out flat on their side allowed me to tap into the maximum amount of filament strength while also making sure the finished product looked sharp - I mean, just look at that smooth side. The elephant is probably the trickiest to print due to its shape, but the diamond isn't a slouch either: I slapped a diamond in place using some crystal and then sealed it all together with glue for good measure. The paint can clip has this little post thingy added because, quite frankly, printing that without one was just not gonna cut it. Luckily, it broke off cleanly once the rest of the support structure came loose. As it turned out, getting those layers to stick around took some work: a brim, no less than 15 lines and two layers deep to be sure everyone stayed put. I didn't dare try printing on an angle - still have yet to get round to that - but apparently you can totally do it, if not at the expense of just a smidge more structural integrity.
