Pen turning blank, chuck clamp.
thingiverse
I designed and printed an adapter that allows me to hold square pen turning blanks securely in my lathe chuck for drilling purposes. To ensure a snug fit, I made the adapter 46mm outside diameter when holding a 19mm square blank, matching the internal size of my chuck jaws. The clamps can accommodate blanks ranging from 18MM to 20MM in size. I tested the adapter with an 18MM wood blank featuring a hole through it, and as you can see from the photo, the two halves are almost perfectly aligned. In contrast, the acrylic blank measures 19.5mm and has a slightly larger gap between its halves. When using this clamp, be cautious to ensure the blank is held tightly and true in place. Additionally, I strongly advise wearing a full-face mask when woodturning, as accidents can occur unexpectedly. To share your experiences with others, please post pictures of any projects you attempt with this adapter on my Instagram page at Think On Designs.
