Pen Tether

People: Pens disappearing? Secure it now! I was fed up with pens vanishing in dispatch at my job, so I designed this solution to keep the pen secured like in post offices. I joined the pieces using builder's line by feeding the ends through the holes and securing them with knots. The version two cap fits perfectly on Staedtler Stick 430 M. To build it; you'll need a pen, drill, locking screw(s), builder's line, and optional glue. I added a tiedown system for the pen stand that is simple to use. Instructions: Print the cap at .2 or .3 layers with 26-33% fill PLA. The tether should be printed at .1 with 35% fill PLA. Use Cura 15 to cut the design. A 1/16th hole must be drilled in the tether block for the line, and a 3-4mm button head screw is required to anchor the tether to your surface. If necessary, drill a 1/16th bit into the cap's rear hole. Then, use a small screw to secure the pen to its place. Tap a pre-hole in the cap's side before putting in the pen and screw it tightly in. Alternatively, you can apply glue. The builder's line is inexpensive and does not hold shape well. To keep it secured, tie it with a double overhand stopper knot, seal the ends using heat. Ensure the knot fits the tether block flushly. 123D Masters files are provided for customization and remixing purposes.
