Pen Stand No 1

I sketch and write regularly, so I needed somewhere to store my favorite pen or pencil while working. I wanted something substantial that would hold my preferred writing instrument in the optimal position at all times. This is my initial attempt. It functions well, but it's a bit too plain. Perhaps it needs to be more bulbous in shape, or perhaps concave sides, or maybe some slots or texture would add interest. I'm not sure - when I make up my mind, I will create Number Two.
