Gear turns to support a pen in mid-air while a small spring balances it on top. A gear system elevates a metal arm holding the pen holder in place by using its spring to counterbalance weight distribution. When gear is shifted, spring compresses allowing an elevated state until new adjustment occurs then spring repositions itself ready for balance at rest and movement states too.
