Indeed: a universal theme. Things that cradle other diverse objects, because we have things that demand to be held. This time we're going to hold multiple items simultaneously. The opening measures about 1.5 inches, and currently cradles the tools we use most frequently: tweezers, a ruler, permanent marker, pen, pencil, and a small screwdriver. With plenty of room to spare.
