I use a small adapter when writing with comfort-style pens that have a larger middle ring than slim-line pens. The kits themselves don't come with this adapter, and without it, I see no way to keep the central band precisely centered on the pen axis. To get it right, tap the center band gently but firmly with a rubber mallet when printing is complete.
