Pen Press Spacer

Pen Press Spacer

I'm a wood turner with a passion for crafting pens on my lathe, and assembling these intricate pieces requires precision and care. To bring them together seamlessly, I rely on either my trusty lathe or a sturdy bench press to secure the parts in place. While browsing online, I stumbled upon various pen presses that caught my eye and sparked an idea - it would be thrilling to design one for myself! This project became a reality when I focused on creating custom spacers that fit perfectly within my chosen layout. To achieve this, I designed the device using Fusion 360 and tailored the spacers to match the precise measurements I had in mind (be sure to examine the sketch I'm uploading closely, as it illustrates the pinion's position and the small axle holding the spacers - both must be positioned with exact distance for my spacers to fit snugly). You can download and print your own spacers from this design. The rest of the press is crafted from wood, a quick-release push-pull type clamp, a 10mm round steel bar, and a 6mm round brass bar - you'll find more details in the photos I've posted. I'd love for you to join me in creating your own pen press! If you decide to build it, don't hesitate to share your project.
