Pen Adapter for Replicator Dual Replace Extruders with Pens or Pencils for Doodle Art Post-Printing Instructions Insert a pen or pencil into the holder using one of the spare bolts that came with the Replicator. The bolt should protrude about 27mm, just like the extruder head. Remove the extruder heads and swap them out for the pen adapter, securing it with the same bolts. Make sure the vertical wall touches the X-axis endstop to prevent over-running of the stepper motor. Level the build plate again to ensure the pen doesn't scratch it. Instead of checking that paper slides between the pen and the plate, just make sure it's leaving a good mark. To create G-code for printing from, import an SVG file into Blender, extrude the curves to 0.1mm, then export as STL and slice with a 0.1mm layer height. Alternatively, use Inkscape > OpenSCAD extension for similar results. You can also generate your own G-code: "G1 X0 Y0" moves to 0mm, 0mm (the build platform's center), "G1 Z2" lifts the pen 2mm off the page, and "G1 Z0" presses it into the paper. Controlling Z height varies pen pressure for shading - the example was made this way. SVGs plotted in pencil and ballpoint pen JPEG plotted with pencil pressure varying according to pixel brightness
