Pen & Pencil Holder

My printer took an astonishing 17 hours to print this intricate design at a layer height of just 0.200 mm. This behemoth test piece is perfect for evaluating stringing issues - if your printer can effortlessly print this complex shape with few or no strings across the holes, you're in excellent shape. I leveraged the powerful WeaverBird add-on to Grasshopper to craft this design (which explains why the STL file bears the wb3 moniker). The part boasts a circular top and bottom, but its middle section takes on a fascinating 7-sided equilateral polygon shape. This challenging test piece is also ideal for assessing slicer performance - Simplify3D's attempt added solid fill layers in multiple spots, rendering it unsuitable for printing. Kisslicer managed to slice the design without major issues, but the resulting print was marred by an excessive amount of strings, both across the holes and along the inside diameter. In contrast, Craftware performed admirably, producing a minimal number of strings that were easily eliminated with a hair dryer.
