Pen holder for Creality Ender 3 (plotter mod)
thingiverse
An attempt at a screwless pen holder upgrade for the Creality Ender 3 printer, a 2-part design that snaps securely onto the fan housing to hold pens, pencils, or other tools for plotting, writing, painting, or measuring. The pen is held in place by a rubber band, allowing for flexibility on the Z-axis and producing slightly better results in experiments. This upgrade is still under development but should work fine if printed well. I print the pen holder with supports to ensure stability and precision during drawing tasks. Updates have been made to accommodate heavier pens and fatter ones through longer and wider versions respectively. To install, hang the mount on the fan grill first, then push it down until it snaps into place near the nozzle. The taper on one side of the mount allows for smooth insertion from the front. Mounting or unmounting without a pen or holder attached may be easier. To dismount from the fan housing near the nozzle, pull the little lever downwards. Used Inkscape to generate the G-code for this upgrade, don't forget to set the correct offsets. There are numerous tutorials available on plotter mods online. Here is an example of plotting a logo using the earlier version: https://youtu.be/y2FbGtKBTRg
