Pelican case wheels
thingiverse
This is a two-part print project that showcases versatility in material usage. The rim was successfully printed using PLA, but other hard materials can also work well for this component. In contrast, the tyre required BIO-TPU to achieve its intended softness and flexibility. To optimize results, varying levels of infill density can be experimented with, as this directly impacts the overall feel and durability of the tyre. It's essential to consider the load capacity and personal preferences when making these adjustments. A deliberate design choice was made to include a 0.3mm diameter clearance between the tyre and rim, with the rim being intentionally designed to be slightly smaller than the tyre. This precise gap is critical for smooth operation and performance. For assembly purposes, additional components are required. Specifically, an M6 screw measuring approximately 70mm in length is necessary, accompanied by a corresponding nut. Depending on the specific suitcase model, it may also be necessary to include washers on either side of the wheel for added stability and security.
