Pegboard Jig

Pegboard Jig

prusaprinters

This is a pegboard jig that will allow you to accurately drill pegboard holes into material with standard metric pegboard sizes (6mm diameter holes spaced at 25mm).

This makes it an effective tool to make pegboards out of scrap material or other materials that you can't usually find pegboards in.

How to use

For the first four starter holes that you drill, it is recommended you clamp the jig to your material. Place the jig with the four guide nubs facing up towards you. Ensure that the jig is square with your material, then guide the drill bit through the four channels to drill your starting holes.

Flip the jig over and place the guide nubs into the holes that you just drilled. Now drill out the next set of holes.

Repeat step 2 until you reach the end of your material. To guide the next two rows of holes, rotate your jig 90 degrees.

Some notes

Due to differences in printer tolerances, you may have trouble fitting the guide nubs into the holes. This is easily solved by gently heating the nubs with a heat gun and quickly pressing them into the holes. This may need to be repeated a couple of times before the nubs deform enough to easily slide in and out of the holes with little play. You want to be able to press the jig flush to the material you are drilling for both accuracy and to avoid the material splintering.

A version of the jig is available that has cavities for placing captive washers (6mm inner diameter, 12mm outer diameter, up to 1.5mm height). These washers reinforce the guide channels, maintaining integrity as the jig's material is heated and worn down over time. To insert washers, use your slicing software to pause the print at the layerprior to the washer's cavity becoming enclosed (see screenshot for example). If you do not want to use washers, simply use the 'no washers' STL.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

i3 MK3

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

.2

Infill:

10%

Filament: Filaprint PLA Grey

Category: 3D Printing
