<p>Digital thickness gauge is useful for many things - but as a bike mechanic, it's fantastic for measuring disc brake rotor thickness quickly and accurately. Disc rotors usually come at 1.8mm (others are thicker, yes) and generally need to be replaced when they've worn to under 1.5mm. They tend to wear the most in the center of the rotor so a standard set of calipers doesn't work as well. A micrometer works well but is a little slower to use. This little gadget however - works quickly and easily and accurately.</p> <p>Like any tool, if you can't find it quick, you might not use it. Supports are optional - the top pegs might come out a little messy underneath if you don't use supports, but that might just help them hold into the pegboard a bit better. Infill can be light and it doesn't need many shells, this isn't a design that needs much in the way of strength.</p>
