Pegboard holder for Bontrager Torqkey fixed torque wrench

Many high-end Trek bikes come equipped with the Bontrager Torqkey (Trek part number 414046), a precision torque wrench preset to 5Nm and featuring a glued-in 4mm hex bit. This versatile tool has multiple uses on bicycles, making it convenient to have nearby. The device in question is a simple pegboard mount designed specifically for the Torqkey. You can see from the photo that my particular Torqkey does not include the glued-in 4mm hex bit. If you own one and wish to utilize alternative bits, apply heat to the area holding the 4mm hex bit using a heat gun, then carefully remove the bit. Clean out any remaining adhesive as best you can, and you will now have a 5Nm preset torque wrench compatible with any 1/4" drive hex bit. However, this configuration presents one major issue: the bits do not stay in place on their own. To resolve this problem, I employed a 6mm drill bit to clear out some built-up glue and debris from the end, then inserted six 3mm rare earth magnets until they reached an optimal height for securely holding a bit. Initially, I considered gluing them in place, but fortunately, the fit is so precise that they remain firmly secured without any need for additional adhesives.
