Peg People in Cups (Montessori-style toy)
prusaprinters
This is a matching toy for children 1 year and up (supervised, of course). Print a few people and cups in different colours, and let the child match them up.Younger children can also enjoy the fine motor skill of putting the person into the cup and taking them out ("together, apart"). Older children can use the people's facial smileys to help share emotions.Tips and notes:Print the people with at least 4 vertical shells and at least 40% infill, otherwise the child might play “together, apart” with the person's body and head. This is not a good educational game and should be avoided. If you are using PrusaSlicer, the Archimedean Chords infill pattern for the top and bottom layers makes a very nice effect. The cup diameter is 26 mm and the person diameter is 25 mm, so these might be compatible with other toys that are 1" circles.I uploaded some gcode if you want to get going at 210/60 degrees. The 10 hour print time isn't quite accurate, it's the sum of all 6 files (1 cup and 5 people). The way I sliced the models, the cup prints in just over 1 hour, and each person in just under 2 hours. The village in the picture took about 20 hours to print (6 cups and 7 people, see note #1).I used polymaker's Smily OpenSCAD library for the faces (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:14486).
