Peg for Shelf
thingiverse
I needed a peg that I could attach to the verticals of a shelving unit. I use one as a spool holder, and another for a headphone hook. You will need a large zip tie or strong string or twine to secure this to the shelf vertical. The shelving style this is designed for has tubular verticals that have indentations for helping shelves grip the verticals. Typically these wire shelves are seen in stores and commercial kitchens, but the hardware store by me carries them. I don't know how strong they are, but I can say that v4 will print at low quality without supports, and be strong enough to hold a couple kilos. I enabled the customizer so that you can adjust the pole diameter if necessary, but I did not code in safeties. So don't put in any crazy dimensions. I could have designed for bolts or for a fancy clip, but I think zip ties (or string) are a good reliable solution. I wanted this to be a single print, and easy to use. I had to have the back part because the v3 was just not holding onto the pole well. I have printed a V5 and I use it when I'm showing off to friends, but that v4 in the pictures is still working great. Finally printed a V4. It has a print in place hinge and a back plate. This makes it hold onto the shelf much better. Don't bother with the v3 if you can print the v4. I have a v5 that has a better hinge, but I don't see a need for it until I find a damning flaw with v4. V4 is up, but I haven't test printed one yet. Added the V2 files because the single zip tie V3 is not holding as strong as I would like. Might make V4 with a variable zip tie height. I am trying to avoid screws or bolts. To-do list: -add an "I made this" entry so that Thingiverse sorts this as a printable object -add a fillet/bevel to the bottom edges to give it a finished look -review the customizer options to make this more user friendly
