Title: Monoaxial Fenestrated Cannulated Pedicle Screw Design for Use with Demineralized Bone Matrix.I propose a pedicle screw design that incorporates cannulation and fenestrations, enabling the post-placement injection of demineralized bone matrix (DBM) directly into the screw. This feature promotes bone growth within the screw and its integration with the surrounding bone structure, aiming to enhance stability and pullout strength. Designed to be created through DMLS (direct metal laser sintering), a type of metal 3D printing, due to the small size of the fenestrations that would be difficult to create with conventional manufacturing processes.Features:5mm x 45mm3 fluted thread0.25mm fenestrations (distal 20mm)1.5mm cannulation8mm set screw6mm rodThis design is for educational and developmental purposes only. It has not been tested nor has it been approved by any licensing body. Publication here is for the sole purpose of driving medical innovation and development. The L4 vertebra, L4/L5 disc, and L5 vertebra used to demonstrate the system were created by Negar An; I have referenced them below.References:An, N. Human spine. GrabCAD. Published Jan 31st, 2014.
