# Pedal platform for SPD PD-ME700 cleat pedals This is a platform insert for the **Shimano PD-ME700** SPD Mountainbike pedals. It is specifically designed for this type, as I found the more universal version my design is inspired from didn´t fit on them to my satisfaction. The design is based on the idea of this design from user "itsjim84": [SPD Compatible Pedal Insert](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4722321) Just as he has problems with the platform insert not being centered on the pedal, I experienced the same issue with his - otherwise really fine - design. So in the end I decided trying making my own. As in his design it does not replicate a real cleat, but only sticks in between the clips, form fitting the axle. In addition to that the platform aligns with the pedals frame, seats solidly on it and has a similar outline. That´s why in the end it became a design specifically for this particular pedal model. **Warning: use it completely at your own risk, do not use in road traffic, stay safe!** That said, using real cleats in road traffic seems somehow more dangerous to me ;-)
