Pedal Extension for Electric Unicycle - new version
thingiverse
I redesigned Electric Unicycles to address a common problem: pedals that are too short for many riders. To solve this issue, I created pedal covers that extend both ends and the outer edge of the pedals. These covers also protect riders from sharp metal edges on the pedals. Riders can still fold up their pedals normally even with these covers attached. I revised my previous design to make it more rounded, eliminating issues with the outer corners touching the ground in tight turns. The new pedal covers fit 17 cm long pedals with straight ridges, like those sold by Shenzen Microworks. Check the pictures for details on compatible pedal versions. The pedal cover's grooves lock onto the ridges, preventing them from sliding off, but riders can attach them with two short M5 screws if they want to ensure a secure fit. Riders will need to drill a small hole in the top of their metal pedal and cut an M5 thread or use an M5 nut inside the pedal. Despite being made of PLA or ABS plastic, these pedal covers are stable because all the main weight is still carried by the metal pedal underneath. This means there's no significant load on the extended parts, making it unlikely that the pedal covers will break unexpectedly except in extreme situations like a crash or ground contact.
