I created this because I, like many other model railway enthusiasts, found myself stuck with numerous already laid and working points that I wanted to power but couldn't access underneath them to drill a hole or position a motor correctly. I chose to use servos and an Arduino for my point control, so I designed this adaptor that easily fits over the little "stick up" bar on the end of a Peco point tie rod and also allows secure connection of 1mm piano wire into the outer end. As can be seen, it is pretty inconspicuous once in place, and if painted black or maybe grey, looks like a genuine piece of railway equipment. This means you can locate the point motor almost anywhere else you want (on top or under your baseboard) and use piano wire, usually inside a piece of 1.5mm inside diameter flexible tubing that will guide it securely.
