Description:This model is designed to demonstrate various aspect of the PolyJet 3D printers. The model contains a wide variety of colours and textures, which will demonstrate PolyJet’s ability to handle multicolour prints as well as detailing in terms of colours in a single print. The model utilizes clear transparent materials to show the internals, as well as other different material options such as hard plastic (Vero) and rubber (Tango). This demonstrates the variety of materials properties available and how they can be incorporated into one single print. The model also demonstrates the high level of detailing of the PolyJet 3D Printers with the mesh inside the pebble. The mesh is made up of rhombic dodecahedron, which I personally find fascinating and also gives off an optical illusion effect. Displacement was also used around the rim so the client can also “feel” the texture.Lastly, the Fan in the center was added in to demonstrate the capability to produce a print in place mechanism for PolyJet 3D printers. Print in place mechanisms/ assemblies is a huge advantage of 3D printing over conventional manufacturing methods and is therefore included. Side Blurb:• Model was made in SolidWorks, and then imported to Rhino 6 for textures and displacement mapping.• I was going to add displacement to the “Wood” and “Leather” part of the rim for the full “hands on tactile experience”, but my potato of a computer went on strike and crash every time I try to export to VRML (even on lowest mesh setting on export)• For some reason, the position/ orientation of the texture pattern showed in GrabCAD Print is different from Rhino, causing texture mapping to be misalign with the displacement mapping.• Following the point above, I’m not entirely sure on how to set up VRML texture (first time using it actually), so the texture that displays on GrabCAD Print may not be like the one in rendering/ rhino workspaceEdit: So the VRML file is massive (1.4gb )... probably due to the displacement, and GrabCAD seems to be refusing to take the file. So Gzipped version of the .mrl file was uploaded, as well as the original .mrl file in a separate .7z file
