sketchfab
This pearlware tea cup was discovered within the House for Families at George Washington's renowned estate, Mount Vernon, a location steeped in history where slaves toiled on the vast Mansion House Farm. The exceptional quality and evident damage suffered by the tea cup imply that it may have been gifted to an enslaved family after being damaged beyond repair. Captured in exquisite detail through 3D scanning technology utilizing a NextEngine Desktop 3D scanner within the dedicated archaeology laboratory at George Washington's Mount Vernon, this remarkable artifact has shed new light on the lives of those who once called this estate home. The digital model was meticulously crafted by Virginia Commonwealth University student Jessica Evans and generously provided by the Virtual Curation Laboratory courtesy of the esteemed Mount Vernon Ladies Association.
