Pearl Slide
thingiverse
The primary objective was to integrate an interactive element into a 3D printer. The print consisted of a dynamic slider, which transferred a small ball from one point to another. To achieve this, I carefully designed the shapes of the model so that the ball would roll seamlessly down each piece, culminating at the final destination. Prior to constructing the physical version, I created a digital simulation within Unity to verify whether the ball could smoothly roll down without falling off the model. After testing and validating the simulation, I proceeded to print six individual pieces of the model separately and then assembled them. In addition, five wooden dowels were added to provide support and prevent the model from collapsing. Finally, three vinyl cut-outs were incorporated as decorative elements for a more polished finish.
