Pear Shaped Ornaments
thingiverse
Here are two ornaments based on a plane curve called the piriform, which is sometimes referred to as "the pear-shaped quartic". Check out this link for more information: http://mathworld.wolfram.com/PiriformCurve.html. The ornaments can be printed without support and require minimal material, making them an ideal project for hobbyists. Here's a sample OpenSCAD code that you can use to create your own piriform ornaments. Print Settings: Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator (5th Generation) Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: 0.3 mm Notes: A small raft is recommended for better adhesion to the build plate, but it can also be left in place as a stand for your ornament.
