Peak Design Mobile Tripod Stabilizer
prusaprinters
A small addition to provide Peak Design's Mobile Tripod with extra locating stability when used with the company's own SlimLink-compatible cases. It achieves this by utilizing SlimLink's square “boss” as a locating feature in addition to the magnets.Requires the Mobile Tripod and Peak Design's Mobile Everyday Case or Universal Adapter for SlimLink compatibility. Note that adding this boss/stabilizer will prevent use of the Mobile Tripod with flat-backed (non-SlimLink) MagSafe cases, or with iPhones without a case.Apparently the original design for the Mobile Tripod included a feature something like this stabilizer, but it was removed in order to provide compatibility with MagSafe at the expense of some positional stability.I've found that a side benefit of this stabilizer design is that the tripod legs are also retained in the closed position slightly more snugly than they were without it. Overall this makes it just a “more solid” device to use for everyday carry. My first print so far with this design was with:- Prusament PETG Jet Black- 0.10mm layers, DETAIL preset (slicer 2.5.0 for Arachne perimeters)- 3 perimeters- 50% gyroid infill- supports to the base only- printed with the boss/phone side down on the plateThe small features on this PETG print will likely require some cleanup (string removal, edge cleanup). Once the part has been cleaned up, simply slot it in as shown and secure with a dab or two of cyanoacrylate glue on the mating surfaces.
