The Pressurized Cavity for Breathing Underwater (PCBU) is a cabin equipped with a bottom opening, enabling divers without diving gear to access compressed air or surface-supplied equipment. Serving as an underwater air-filled cavity (moon pool), it allows divers to breathe and continue their work submerged. Additionally, the PCBU can be utilized for tasks such as coral planting on coral tables or reef balls. Operable at depths up to 8 meters to prevent decompression sickness, the PCBU features a compressor and umbilical cord extending to the surface via balloons. The compressor generates compressed air to fill the cavity upon deployment, with the same device filling an onboard air tank for diver control. Intended for localized use, the PCBU is transported by boat; when nearing the work site, a built-in propeller propels it into place before being secured to the seafloor via yellow hatches.
