PCB Clamp
thingiverse
I needed a reliable PCB Clamp that could handle larger size PCBs like Motherboards, so I decided to create one. The STL files for these Openscad designs are available on GitHub from the following location: https://github.com/Dragnsbld/3D-Files/tree/master/PCB%20Clamp/Openscad%20Files To ensure a snug fit when inserting them into the base, drill the base holes for the legs to 6mm diameter and file the pins on the legs. The Base, Connector Arm, Slide Arm Connector, Slide Arms, and Spacer are all created with 5 mm thread, but can be tapped if necessary. The photos show the final product minus the Spacer, which I decided to add to the thumbscrew used on the Connector Arm for better tightening of the ball joint. Make sure the thread for tightening the Connector Arm is secure so the arms stay in position or use a nut on one side; I chose to thread one side and it seems to work well. To complete this build, you will need the following additional parts: 4 - M5 x 25 mm Hex head screws, 4 - Thumbscrew inserts (I used a Thing from Thingiverse for this), 1 - 102 mm (4") L x 5 mm (3/16") D rod, 3 - Self-stick rubber pads for the ends of the legs, cut to fit, and 1 - 1/8" T x 1/2" W Aluminum stock or equivalent. Since I am in the U.S., I used a 3/16" rod, bent it 45 degrees at either end, threaded the ends 1/4" L x 5 mm, and this worked out wonderfully. I then painted the rod and ran the threads to clean them of paint before putting them into place. The Slide Arms have two additional holes for reduced material use but also provide a convenient way to add rubber banding as a retainer for the board before tightening the nuts into place. They also feature V-Slots so that round boards can be held in place without any issues, which was my initial reason for creating this version. I hope you all find it useful.
