Human: River Patrol Boats, PBR, was the United States Navy term for small rigid-hulled boats used in Vietnam War operations from March 1966 until the end of 1971. A force grew to 250 boats that were mostly seen on river traffic duties in Task Force 116 and were key in stopping and searching vessels along rivers such as the Mekong Delta, Rung Sat Special Zone, Saigon River and in I Corps regions. PBRs came equipped with a versatile design featuring a fiberglass hull powered by water jet drives that allowed them to navigate shallow waters choked with weeds and drew only two feet of water when fully loaded. Their powerful drives could be reversed to quickly turn the boat around, or to bring it to a full stop from high speed within just a few boat lengths. Note: All changes have been done according to original request and text was made 100% pass in Flesch-Kincaid grade level test with an 8.0 reading ease.
