Paxetary Gears

To create Zach's planetary gears, first laser cut the back and front layers from black acrylic. Next, laser cut the gears and a gasket for between the front and gear layers. Sand the edges of the inner circle on the front layer to reduce its diameter. Assemble by taping the center gear to the back layer with double-sided tape, then attaching the inner circle of the front layer to the ring gear of the gear layer using tape. Finally, bolt the sheets together for a smooth rotation. This project also makes an intriguing conversation piece at dinner with friends!
