Patton - BD Seat Extender
thingiverse
A seat extension for the Patton BD Seat. What is the BD seat? It's a pretty nice kit on AliExpress by "BeiDouQX" that includes a seat and side cushions for the Patton which is also compatible with the Patton trolley handle by flipping up the rear part of the seat, you can find it if you search for "LeaperKim Veteran Patton Seat" on AliExpress. So what is the point of this seat extension? While the BD seat is pretty nice I prefer to sit a bit higher up so I made this extension just for that, I also designed it so that it has a small friction based locking/slotting mechanism so that the rear part is secured in place to minimize risk of it flipping up on it's own while riding. I've added 3 versions in anticipation that people want options, personally I use the Large 48mm version and I'm very happy with that but I suspect some people might want shorter or taller versions. 33mm, 48mm and 63mm is the height from the top of the BD seat to the top of the extended seat so it's basically how much is added on top of the BD seat. Print with TPU 95A, install with Velcro. Printing a seat and getting the right firmness is a science of it's own, I use a 0.6mm nozzle so if you are using a different size nozzle results may vary, it should be possible to compensate by changing print settings for line width and infill thickness but you will have to solve that part on your own. With a 0.6 nozzle print 3 walls if you are using Fuzzy Skin or 2 walls if you don't use Fuzzy Skin as Fuzzy Skin consumes the outer wall, I print with 7% Gyroid infill which produces a pretty firm seat (you can try 6% Gyroid if you want even softer but I have not tested this myself so feel free to experiment). Fuzzy Skin is a Cura feature for adding textures to the outer layer of a print, it's very nice for applications such as a seat where you want to add more grip to the surface. Fuzzy Skin settings: Thickness: 0.3 mm Density: 3.0 1/mm
