It's not wise to venture forth unprepared! Make sure your miniatures are equipped with the benefit of cold steel for all their adventures using this 1796 cavalry saber pattern. I've discovered that, depending on the hand shape of a figure, the sword can be either slightly loose or slightly tight. For loose-fitting hands, try wedging the fingers into the hand guard. For tighter-fitting hands, consider removing the hand guard altogether - it makes the sword more similar to a Polish saber, but I doubt your miniatures will mind. Check out the third photo for an example. Since the swords print rapidly (about one minute each), I've also included a file with eight of them plated and ready for your antique weapons-running needs. This project was designed almost entirely in Blender from start to finish. I imported a reference image of the saber, then created two planes - one for the handle and one for the blade, each shaped like the corresponding parts of the sword. A few extrusions, some editing, and a boolean union brought it all together. To ensure accurate scaling, I brought it into OpenSCAD and adjusted the scaling factor until it fit perfectly within a box of the correct size based on actual measurements and 1/18 scale.
