The Coney Island Scan-A-Rama is a 21st-century amusement park portrait studio that utilizes 3D printing technology. The studio debuted its scanning rig, the Scan-O-Tron 3000, at the Danbury Makerfaire on June 8th, 2013 using an Xbox Kinect and ReconstructMe software. With plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign and open source the project, Coney Island Scan-A-Rama aims to appear at MakerFaires and in Coney Island throughout 2013. When printing, it is recommended to use a .27 or .1 mm layer height without support structures, as minor trimming may be required.
