Patio Umbrella Broken Rib Repair
prusaprinters
Needed to fix my patio umbrella. Two of the arms broke after the wind knocked it over. Just needed to use some M5x35mm bolts with some washers and nuts. I used some nylon washers since it's supposed to be able to to articulate when opening and closing and thought this would reduce friction where the 2 parts meet at the bolt. Will probably add blue Loctite to the nut as well to make sure it doesn't unscrew itself overtime.Update: Added a 2nd version with a flat side so you can choose to print that one without using supports. The flat side can face up against the umbrella fabric. Printing tips:I printed it on it's side with supports in order to get the most strength in the direction it was likely to get the most force. If you print it on the flat side it will be more prone to breaking at one of the layer lines. I also printed mine in 100% fill PETG. Not sure if this was overkill but I wanted to make sure it doesn't break again and it only used a bit more filament to go too 100%.
