NEW Revised Version 2.2 of the Universal Paste Extruder Update Nov. 23: I've uploaded a new STL that is scaled correctly. The old file was ten times too large, so I'm doing a test print now. An updated and cleaned-up version of the 10 CC V2.1 Paste Extruder is based on the original Universal Paste Extruder from RichRap. This project is still in its early stages, and I haven't yet put it to the test. If you decide to build it, please give me your feedback. You can find all the small parts needed to build an extruder here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:591849. Just use them with the new V2.2 extruder body. This upgraded variant of RichRap's universal syringe-style paste extruder replaces a few hard-to-find pieces of hardware with easier alternatives. I also made some time-consuming changes to get everything fitting well and printing quickly. It's based on a 10 ml/cc syringe, the best one being Leur Lock ones with interchangeable tips, but measuring-type syringes have worked just as well for me. Here is a list of parts you'll need to build the Paste Extruder 10 CC V2.2: * Print - Plastic Body V2.1 Extruder * Print - Gear and drive set (small gear, medium gear, large gear, idler block, syringe pressure block) * NEMA17 motor with a 5 mm shaft * Drive gear T5 10-tooth Metal drive Gear (you could print one of these) * Four 624 bearings * One 608 bearing * A 20mm by 8 mm smooth rod or an M8 rod * Two M3 set screws for the stepper drive gear and belt pulley * Four M3 nuts, for tension, drive gear, and pulley * Two M3 bolts with a length of 45 mm for idler tension * Four M3 bolts with a length of 10mm for mounting the stepper motor * Seven M3 washers * Three M3 nuts * Three M4 by 30mm bolts for the idler hinge pin * One M4 by 55mm hex head bolt for the large gear shaft * One M4 cap screw with a length of 45 mm for the double/medium gear shaft * One plain M4 nut for syringe clamping * Three Nylock-type M4 nuts * Four M4 washers, between gears and in caps * Two springs or silicon pressure spacers for idler * A small zip tie * A 5-6mm wide T5 belt (or a belt to match the pulley) that is approximately 40cm long * A plastic sheet to print paste onto Standard syringes come with two different types of tips, but it's easy to get good results by using measuring-type syringes. Various syringe needles in diameters ranging from 1.8mm to 0.1mm are compatible with Luer Lock syringes. Offset nozzles on syringes can work as well, just be sure to clamp them in place so they don't rotate in the paste extruder body while it's being used.
