Parvo core MKII
thingiverse
This MKII model is an upgraded version of its predecessor, featuring two key modifications - a pair of strategically placed notches that secure the film's end onto the core, necessitating additional support structures during printing. In contrast, the earlier design lacked these notches, allowing it to print seamlessly without any supplementary supports. For practical purposes, I often place 3D printed cores on the take-up side to prevent accidental loss or misplacement in the lab setting. Typically, I avoid using tape to secure film onto cores, as this can lead to complications later down the line. To address this concern, I incorporated these notches into the design. In ideal situations, after a download is completed, I remove the core and replace it with a standard type U core, thus eliminating any issues related to tape or notches in the lab environment. Under such circumstances, the trade-off between the two models becomes largely irrelevant. Notably, the MK1 model boasts easier printing and cleanup processes, while the MKII model offers greater versatility in its design and functionality.
