The 2 key problems I wanted to solve were labelling and easy access.

Labelling 3D prints is tricky, when you use a Sharpie, the ink bleeds along the layer lines so you get blurry text. And sticky labels don't stick that well because of the textured surface.
So the solution here was to have a small label slot for printed or hand written labels. And angled up so they're easy to read.

The next problem was ease of access. It can be difficult to pick small parts out with your fingers, so the front wall of each compartment is curved so you can slide the part out. Especially important when the last few parts are stuck in the corner.
This is a feature cash drawers have been using for years.

The boxes have a snap close lid.

Printing details:

Two sets of STL files are included for 8 and 12 compartment boxes.

I've printed in PLA and PETG.

No supports.

Print lid upside down.

0.2mm layer height

Used two M2 screws for the hinges. Could also use a short piece of filament.

After printing you might need to clean out the lid hinge hole with a 2mm drill. The base hinge hole is slightly smaller to grip the screw/filament.
