Parts for my DIY "Full Graphic Smart Controller"
thingiverse
Using parts found on eBay, you can create a budget version of the RepRapDiscount Full Graphic Smart Controller. The display costs around $9 USD and the encoder is approximately $1.50, while a switch might be already in your possession. Nine wires connect to the "D" pins on the RAMPS board, functioning similarly to the original RepRapDiscount board. Implementation of the SD card reader, which can be purchased for about $1.50 from eBay, is optional. For those looking to save money, this alternative controller might just do the trick. The process involves printing standoffs separately and gluing them on later, drilling holes for encoder shafts and push buttons. Recommended parts from eBay include a graphics display, an encoder, and an SD card reader. Note that the interface has not been tested yet, so results may vary. Instructions on connecting components to the Ramps board can be found in photos, with enlarged views available for better visibility.
