Parts cooling fan mod for Zonestar Z5X
thingiverse
The default blower placement on the Zonestar Z5X is completely absurd, and it barely cools down the filament coming out of the nozzle. This used to cause a lot of curling on the right side of parts when printing PLA. At first, I decided to design an entire new duct, but then I realized that maybe a single bracket could solve the issue. So I went to work and came up with this solution. I also printed two overhang tests (using the same GCODE), one with the stock configuration and one with the bracket installed, and the difference in print quality is significant. It's amazing how much of an impact this simple modification can have. All it takes to install is: * 2x M4 20mm bolts * 2x M4 nuts * A saw or bolt cutter You will have to cut off about 2~3 mm of one of the bolts. It's a small price to pay for improved print quality. It seems that the new batch of Z5Xs does not come with this parts cooling assembly, so if you have one of the new models, you don't have to worry about this modification. This bracket only works for the first Z5Xs that used blowers.
