Partners In Spring

Partners in Growth (with reference to molecular engineering in the year 2199) In the company of all that flourishes this spring, I cultivate my home! With curiosity, humanity has always observed Nature in her intricate process. Now humanity, in Nature's process, can participate actively. I insert a "seed," artificial DNA, blueprints for what my dwelling will be. Planted, like earth, the roots extend downward to nourishment for its upward expansion, as molecules replicate and multiply exponentially. A circulatory system distributes upwards as well, through stalks and trunk—my pillars; to branch and rib—my framework and support, into living membranes—my canopy and roof. Will I reside within my thriving dwelling in harmonious balance? I may dwell there with a troubled heart. For I have intervened in Nature's subtle ways. Again, I may find serenity, if I design with compassion Yet not surpass the modesty of Nature. So will I be her partner in the grandeur of her spring.
