Hinged Box with partitions and removable trays ================================================= A fully printable general purpose box designed to contain small household items, DIY components, fuses and electrical equipment, needlecraft supplies, jewelry, fishing flies, and lures. If you only need an empty box, please see my Hinged Box Thing 3644340. My boxes for shotgun chokes are available as Thing 3652790. 2 box sizes with various partition designs ------------------------------------------ External size (mm) Internal size Minimum print bed size 120 x 105 x 50 116 x 102 x 46 238 x 120 120 x 78 x 50 116 x 75 x 46 187 x 120 The trays are interchangeable for each box size, allowing you to customize the partition layout in the box and the tray separately. Scaling -------- The boxes can be scaled to different sizes subject to certain limitations: Length ------- The boxes may be scaled between 0.65 and 2.0 in the Y axis (along the axis of the hinge) without issue. Scaling outside this range may cause problems with printing the hinges, depending on your printer's accuracy and filament type. Width ----- You can upscale in the X axis to the full width of your print bed by scaling the Z axis (height) by the same amount to maintain circular hinges. Reducing the scale in the X axis is not recommended as it may cause the hinges to stick. Height ------ Scaling the height without adjusting the X axis may cause issues with printing the hinge pins. To avoid this, extrude the bottom face of the hasp (catch) by the same amount instead of using support material. Support material should be avoided as it can clog the hinges and prevent smooth operation. Printing --------- The boxes have a large area in contact with the print bed, which may encourage lifting of the edges and warping of the print. Ensure that you apply a good coat of adhesive to the print bed and use a heated bed set to 50c for PLA, 80c for PETG, or 90c for ABS. The hinge pins have a 0.5mm tolerance. Printing in PLA may cause the hinges to stick, but they can be freed with gentle force. The hinges print well in PETG or ABS. Do not use support material as it may clog the hinges. A layer height of 0.25mm is recommended. The catch is designed to be secure, preventing accidental opening. You may need to adjust the catch with a knife, file, or sandpaper if it is too tight for your requirements.
