Particle Photon, Relay Shield Case

Particle Photon, Relay Shield Case

I'm developing a cutting-edge sprinkler control system using a Particle Photon and its companion 4 Relay Shield. Since I couldn't find a suitable enclosure, I designed one from scratch! To accommodate the DB9 connectors, additional holes with clear labels were included, and I deliberately increased the case dimensions by approximately 1/4 inch on all sides for future-proofing and potential wiring requirements. I also incorporated mounting tabs to facilitate easy wall installation. All LEDs are conveniently visible even when the top is in place, thanks to strategically placed holes in the lid. To streamline my workflow, I've opted not to include a USB connector, instead relying on WiFi programming. For those interested in replicating this project, I recommend having fun with it! Here's an overview of my print settings: Printer: PowerSpec / FlashForge Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .1 Lid / .2 Case Infill: 10% Notable printing notes: The case and lid were printed using PLA at 220C (Extruder) and 50C (Platform). To ensure readability of the labels on the lid, I used a resolution of .1. Unfortunately, my printer experiences issues with fill functions between letters when using higher resolutions above .1. Despite this, any resolution will yield satisfactory results. After receiving feedback that the lid latches fit too tightly, I adjusted them by 0.02 inches to prevent case distortion.
