Parthenon West Frieze Block IX Restoration Model
sketchfab
Restoration model of the Parthenon Frieze Block W IX - a decimated version. A photogrammetry render is performed on 157 images of a Block W IX cast, made from Elgin molds housed in Skulpturhalle, Basel, Switzerland. The render details are identical to those listed in the previous state model. Starting with the state model, I used ZBrush to repair existing structural damage by copying and pasting from within this block, and in one case, from Block W VII. Then, using polypaint, I applied era-appropriate pigment based on comparanda, early accounts of the Frieze, and color conventions understood at that time to achieve a model most similar to what would have been originally depicted on the Acropolis.
