Parthenon Frieze _ North XLV, 125-126-127
myminifactory
Marble relief (Block XLVI) from the South frieze of the Parthenon displays a vibrant procession of the Panathenaic festival, celebrating the birthday of goddess Athena. Three youths, draped in long cloaks, walk alongside two cows led for sacrifice, their halters skillfully painted on. The broad, unadorned hides of the beasts create a striking contrast with the intricate folds of the youths' drapery as they lead them.
