This is a straightforward design of a part cooling fan that slides effortlessly into place. In the extruder of the Easythreed X1, you'll discover an unused cable delivering 12 volts - this is the fan's power supply. Simply hook up an old 6mm CPU fan and it will be operational right away. Some slicers even support PWM for the fan, with PrusaSlicer being one example. The need for supports depends on your printer's bridging ability; in my case, I didn't require any.
