I created this functional connecting pin to facilitate assembling large objects that exceed the size of my print bed in manageable pieces. The pin features ridges, while its counterpart boasts ridges running in the opposite direction, ensuring a robust frictional connection. To ease insertion into the connecting hole, I added a deliberate cut down the center, allowing it to bend slightly. This permanent fixative is designed to secure parts together irreversibly, preventing separation once attached. It's a straightforward mechanical fitting tailored for 3D printing, offering an alternative to adhesives and other bonding methods for joining large objects without compromise. The design can be scaled to accommodate various objects, providing versatility in its application. The accompanying files are provided in STl, OBJ, and STEP formats, ensuring compatibility with multiple CAD software options. These parts can be customized to suit specific designs or serve as a reference point for creating similar components. They print completely support-free, requiring no post-processing or cleanup after printing is complete.
