Part 2, 6, 22 - Smoothed
thingiverse
First of all, huge thanks go out to JediTrooper for doing a fantastic job modeling Rey's Staff. I could really see the edges of the conical part, listed as Part_2-6-22, in JediTrooper's photos of the ends of the staff. I don't know if that was a deliberate design choice, but I prefer a smoother cone. So I redesigned it! The original part's cone has 24 vertices all around, while the one I built in Autodesk 123D Design has 128. I tried my best to keep the dimensions the same as the original STL file, though there are likely to be small differences. If you're wondering at what scale to print this piece at (for different sized staffs), know that my file has an inner diameter of 18 mm, similar to that of the original STL file. I've included two versions of the piece, depending on how your slicer and printer work: Part2Smoothed_WithoutWall is my original creation where the cone thickness approaches 0 mm toward the top, while Part2Smoothed_WithWall adds an interior wall 0.4 mm thick so slicers don't chop the top off. The inner diameter is still 18 mm, but the entire piece is slightly bigger to compensate. I've included an example of the difference in slicing using Cura 15.04.6 with a screenshot, where you can see how the part without the wall (right side) has its top clipped off compared to the one with the wall (left side). The raw file is also there in case someone wants to make their own changes.
With this file you will be able to print Part 2, 6, 22 - Smoothed with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Part 2, 6, 22 - Smoothed.
