Parrot Disco Fins & Skids & Nav Lights

The individual who conceived the idea of employing Disco wing mounts for accessories like fins displayed excellent ingenuity. This concept prompted me to think that fins would be an ideal location for LED's, facilitating the tracking of the Disco both during nighttime operations and on hazy Texas days. I sought out fins with lines more in harmony with the original design of the Disco. Version one focused solely on the top fin, where I initially gave considerable thought to incorporating LED's. Upon further consideration, it became apparent that most flight time is spent looking up at the Disco, making the bottom wing a more suitable location for the LED's. However, four headlights seemed cooler than two, so I made this adjustment. Subsequently, it was realized that much of the time the Disco is positioned perpendicular to the observer, necessitating lights visible from the side – hence, the inclusion of green and red navigation lights (LEDs). Additionally, blue LEDs were added to the tail end of the Disco. With four primary headlights and four green and four red LED's, the current draw amounts to 187 milliamperes. The skids are designed to elevate the Disco off the ground during hard landings, thereby protecting the camera lens. Weighing in at a total of 91 grams, the two fins, once built and soldered with tape, prove to be substantial. In my opinion, it is always prudent to wire in a fuse to prevent a malfunctioning LED from causing damage or potentially rendering your battery inoperable during flight. I utilize a half-amp fuse, which functions perfectly.
